Summer Session 2019: On A Boat
This summer’s best and biggest beer festival is right by the ocean. So what better beer to serve than a light, crisp ale called On a Boat?
For this year’s Maine Brewers’ Guild Summer Session, we collaborated with our good friends at Crosby Hop Farm to create a Kolsch-style beer with a special hop. On a Boat features a new public hop variety called Triumph, which was selected from of the USDA Hop Breeding & Genetics program at Corvallis, Oregon and released last year. Its parentage includes Nugget, Brewers Gold, East Kent Goldings, and Hallertau Mittelfrüh. Currently, there are only two acres of this hop planted in the world.
Triumph’s strong citrus notes are perfect for this unique style. Kolsch – originally from Cologne, Germany – is fermented with ale yeast and then finished in cold temperatures like a lager. The result in the case of On a Boat is a crisp and clean ale with hints of lemon and lime.
On a Boat goes down easy, perfect for an afternoon (or evening) by the water at Fort Preble in South Portland. Get your ticket now for unlimited beer samples from 75 Maine craft breweries, a souvenir taster glass, live music, and the most scenic, sun-soaked festival of the summer.
In addition to On a Boat, our crew will be serving Haze Fwd and Milking the Clock – three tasty and distinctive beers not to be missed!
See you at Summer Session 2019!
