Meet Helga
“Helga” is our latest local harvest ale, this time wet-hopped with Cascade hops from The Hop Yard. In addition to farm-fresh hops, this ale features soft wheat flavors from the Maine Malt House and fruit-forward aromatics from the English yeast.
So, who is this mysterious Helga? It’s the name of The Hop Yard’s hop-picking machine. This year was Helga’s 50th harvest (although most of those years were spent Germany).
Head brewer Rusty Packer clarifies that “there aren’t any German things going on in the beer.” The name is simply a nod to the hardest working picker in Maine.
This small batch is going fast, so try Helga while you can!
