Barrel Aged Goodness
It takes time and patience, but it is so worth the wait. Check out a few of our tasty barrel aged brews now on tap…
Barrel Aged Hell Awaits brings this imperial porter to another level. Last year our brewers created Hell Awaits to commemorate the 666th batch on our present 40-barrel brewhouse. Most of it was served, but they set some aside in Sazerak rye whisky barrels, just for this very special release.
This barrel aged version has all the bold notes of the original Hell Awaits imperial porter, but boosted with the toasted wood character of the barrels and baking spice qualities from the rye whisky. With a dark, almost black appearance and a 9.99% ABV, something special awaits you.
Cherry Hill Trail is a barrel fruited sour ale that was fermented in pinot noir barrels and aged with Brettanomyces with sweet & sour cherries. After aging in barrels for more than a year, the results are a pleasantly tart beer with fruit and wine notes. Fun fact: this sour ale is named after the Cherry Hill Trail system on the property behind the brewery. Take a hike and then stop by the Tasting Room for a snifter of Cherry Hill Trail!
Finally, Bog So Hard, our barrel aged cranberry saison is available in cans at all locations. This sour beer was fermented with the juice of (many) Maine grown cranberries and then aged in pinot noir and gin barrels for more than six months. Read more (and hear from head brewer Rusty Packer) about the sour we first made in 2018 to celebrate our 20th anniversary. There’s a reason we keep bring it back!
These small batch beers — and many more — are available at the Tasting Room and select Sebago brewpubs. Don’t forget to check before you go! Look on our website to see what’s pouring in real time at each location.
