Sebago Small Batch: What We Did This Summer
People know our classic beers like Frye’s Leap IPA and Runabout Red, or favorites like Hop Swap, and Whistle Punk. But our Sebago small batch beers are some of the most delicious, inventive brews coming out of the brewery now.
Since our new brewery opened in late February, we’ve released a dozen new small batch beers: Spring Cleaning, Saison Saisoff, Dieter Redux, Chiquito, Danquito, Bog So Hard, Pack in the Day, TriCitraHops, Buddy System, Blazing Summer, and Group Hug.
The beers have ranged from a Belgian-style pale ale (Group Hug) to a Dunkelweiss-style wheat beer with a twist (Dieter Redux). We’ve collaborated with other breweries, like Norway Brewing Company (Humlevenner). And to celebrate our milestone anniversary, we brewed a unique kettle sour (Bog So Hard) and a hazy DIPA (Pack in the Day).
Kai Adams (Sebago’s VP and Co-founder) says the most fun part is all the different people who have been coming up with the beers:
“We’re having a lot of fun with our small batch program. Now that we have the physical equipment and processes in place, we want to continue to have everyone at Sebago engaged in the creative process of craft beer. Brewery, sales, and brewpub staff— the whole team.”
It was fun for our packaging crew to work with our lead brewer Rusty Packer to create the juicy hop bomb Pack in the Day. Brewers Molly Wolkin and Kevin Depot teamed up to produce TriCitraHops, a hoppy beer using the much-beloved Citra Hops.
With our small batch brewhouses, there’s no telling what our staff will come up with next. (For an inside look, follow @sebagosmallbatch on Instagram!)
Visit our Tasting Room and try some one-of-a-kind Sebago small batch beers for yourself. While you’re here, take a brewery tour and stay for a meal from our wood-fired oven. (Some small batch beers are available at the brewpubs, and we may even offer some special release cans in the near future…)
